Mana!

MUM Veggie + Coffee + Sweet

5. Other activities

Food Revolution aims to arouse discussion on various food topics, including healthy diet and treasuring the food resources. We believe in the long run, to support local farming and consuming local food will not only protect local food security but also to be more environmental friendly and help reduce the medical liability. Food insecurity will affect us forever if we rely on the imported food from mainland China. Our health, especially the health of our next generation, will be endangered if we keep relying on processed food.

Beatrice Chan, voluntary ambassador of the Food Revolution HK said, “Hong Kong people have suffered enough for the mainland imported toxic food. From swill oil, pesticides’ fruit and veggies to the news about the pollution of river, soil even the air. We want a change. The success of the local farmer markets has proved that Hong Kong people are concerned about their health and there is a huge demand on toxic-free food and the worry on imported food is obvious. At the environment level, we should also think about how to utilize our land resource to make Hong Kong a self-sustainable place and gradually reduce more carbon emission from food transportation. We also have to help build Hong Kong as a truly no food waste city by utilizing our food waste and food resources as well as to support the city and rooftop farming with the food waste’s fertilizer.”

What our supporters said:
“I believe educating our children on healthy diet & healthy cooking is an important priority, as this forms the basis for our children to stay healthy!” Alvina Chan, Founder of Alvina Cookery, TVB Culinary Show Host

“Cheap food is a crime! A crime against Society, Humanity, our Natural Resources & our Planet. We simply can no longer afford cheap food.” Bobsy @ Mana!Fast Slow Food

“We LOVE cooking; We RESPECT to real food; We SUPPORT small local organic farm.” MUM Veggie + Coffee + Sweet

“We are all unique. We live in our own cultural, economic, time and social constraints. Despite our best intentions we sometimes make the wrong daily decisions with our food and environment choices. This is okay. Awareness and attempts to better our nutrition with our environment are more important than being misinformed or just indifferent.” Arlene Wu, Health Concept

“Farming is all about food production in order to maintain human needs of survival. P Farmland believes that we all have to return to nature and put our hands in soil, growing the natural taste of food. Let’s join “Food Revolution”!” P-Farmland

“A real cool lifestyle is about all positive values, and without REAL FOOD, one is not living at all.” Jupyeah
