從Clean 15 開始有機飲食

近年很多人對是否吃有機食物都有自己的看法,我是極力推廣有機飲食的。我演講時,觀眾常提及的問題是:為甚麼有機食物總是較貴?其實答案很簡單,就是經濟學常用的供求問題。
在供應方面,有機食材的收割因沒有化學農藥,會較一般非有機食物少。供應少價錢自然會貴些。除了因天生天養引致供應少外,需求少也是令一原因。這也許是一個循環吧。
其實如果想開始有機飲食,但暫時不想付太貴的金錢,可先又Clean 15開始。美國的Environemental Working Group每年都列出15種含農藥最少的食物,包括:一、玉米;二、洋蔥;三、菠蘿;四、牛油果;五、椰菜;六、甜豌豆;七、木瓜;八、芒果;九、蘆筍;十、茄子;十一、奇異果;十二、柚子;十三、哈密瓜;十四、番薯;十五、蘑菇。要將這個清單再進一步簡易化,就是選一些食物被厚厚的皮或衣包着,就像牛油果、哈密瓜、南瓜等。因為皮或衣服太厚,蟲便較難咬入,亦因此而不用噴射農藥。
大家不妨從Clean 15 開始有機飲食!

EWG’s Clean Fifteen™ for 2014 – the produce least likely to hold pesticide residues – are 牛油果 Avocados, 粟米 sweet corn, 菠蘿pineapples, 椰菜 cabbage, 急凍甜豌豆 frozen sweet peas, 洋蔥 onions, 蘆筍 asparagus, 芒果 mangoes, 木瓜 papayas, 奇異果 kiwis, 茄子 eggplant, 西柚 grapefruit, 哈密瓜 cantaloupe, 椰菜花cauliflower and 番薯 sweet potatoes.

Notable findings:
Avocados were the cleanest: only 1 percent of avocado samples showed any detectable pesticides.
Some 89 percent of pineapples, 82 percent of kiwi, 80 percent of papayas, 88 percent of mango and 61 percent of cantaloupe had no residues.
No single fruit sample from the Clean Fifteen™ tested positive for more than 4 types of pesticides.
Detecting multiple pesticide residues is extremely rare on Clean Fifteen™ vegetables. Only 5.5 percent of Clean Fifteen samples had two or more pesticides.
