飲汽水增患憂鬱風險 Sipping Sadness: New Study Links Sugary Drinks to Depression

美國一項新的研究初步發現飲用汽水人士者較易患上抑鬱症。很明顯,汽水從來不是一個健康選擇,而所謂的「健怡」汽水其實更差, 當中的人造甜味劑會令人更易患上抑鬱症。

研究訪問了近250,000 位年齡介乎50至71歲的成年人。在1995和1996年,他們記錄了各己的飲食習慣和在飲料的消費。 10年後,當研究人員問他們有否曾被診斷患有抑鬱症,結果發現,每天喝4罐以上普通碳酸飲料的受訪者比喝得較少的受訪者被患上抑鬱症的機會率多30%(飲減肥汽水的話更會多32%或以上)。

這項研究是由美國神經病學學會主理,飲用汽水對身體的影響實在值得關注,不妨以茶、咖啡、新鮮果汁代替,當然,喝清水永遠是最健康的!

A brand new study has tentatively found that soda drinkers are more likely to suffer from depression. It’s pretty clear that soda isn’t a healthy choice ever, but diet soda is even more unhealthy when it comes to mental hygiene. Artificially sweetened drinks up the the chances for depression even more than regular soda.

The study looked at more than a quarter million adults ages 50 to 71. In 1995 and 1996, they were asked what their habits were in terms of beverage consumption. When asked 10 years later whether or not they had been diagnosed with clinical depression, those who drank more than 4 cans of regular soda every day were 30% more likely to have been diagnosed. Diet soda drinkers were 32% more likely.

The study was conducted by the American Academy of Neurology. Stay tuned, but in the meantime, take a break from soda! Try to replace it by grabbing a cup of tea, coffee, juice, or WATER, which is always the best!
